Samsung is rolling out a new update to the Galaxy Watch4 to consumers in the US, the Netherlands, and a few other regions across the globe. The update brings new watch faces, support for backups, and an improved heart rate measurement algorithm. The update also carries the November security patch.

A new update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 is now making its way to users in the US, the Netherlands, and a few other regions around the world. The update is aimed at addressing some of the biggest complaints surrounding Samsung’s latest WearOS offering. For instance, in our review of the Galaxy Watch4 LTE, we noted that the heart rate measurement and the blood oxygen saturation measurement were not up to par. With the November update, Samsung is delivering a new heart rate monitoring algorithm to improve the accuracy of the HR measurement.

The update also brings new watch faces and the ability to restore the order and the settings of the preloaded watch faces after a reset. Fall Detection also receives a feature bump as the update adds a sensitivity option to Samsung Health. Now, you can adjust the movement sensitivity at which Fall Detection gets triggered. The November security patch is also rolling out as part of the upgrade. Finally, the Galaxy Watch4 is also getting a new gesture for quickly accessing apps and features.

Samsung has been rolling out small feature updates and stability fixes since the Watch4’s launch. The newest patch not only brings a few minor fixes but also addresses big issues making the Galaxy Watch4 a worthy competitor to the well-reviewed Apple Watch Series 7.
