The long-awaited Galaxy S21 FE has yet to launch, and is now not likely to do so until 2022. Despite this, a Redditor claims to have a unit in hand, having been able to acquire it from a retailer who may have stocked the phone in advance by mistake. The resulting unboxing and short review may confirm numerous leaks and rumors about the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has appeared in new YouTube videos, the first of which is an unboxing followed by a short review of the long-awaited phone. However, rather than a usual suspect such as Lewis Hilsenteger or MKBHD, the vlogger in question is the Redditor u/UnknownWon. What makes this situation all the odder still is that the device in question has yet to be launched or released by its OEM.

The S21 FE is now thought to debut at CES 2022; alternatively, it is possible that Samsung will wait even longer after this show to make the phone official. Despite this, UnknownWon claims to have been able to buy a unit, shipped to the user’s South African home, through a “mostly retail” channel.

The Redditor has posted videos and photos as proof of owning this phone, which may confirm, for a start, that the S21 FE comes in power brick-less packaging. It is shown in its rumored Olive colorway, and is depicted as having flattened edges as well as a flat display.

This screen appears to have a 120Hz max refresh rate, although Samsung’s Adaptive Mode is absent from its settings. On that note, this S21 FE (powered by the Snapdragon 888, as opposed to the Exynos 2100 that may or may not be inflicted on other markets) seems to run a build of One UI 3.1 rather than the latest version based on Android 12 as one might expect.

The Redditor also now seems to be in a position to prove that the S21 FE will ship with the same rear cameras as its well-received predecessor, meaning that a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom may be on the way back in this generation.

Finally, the S21 FE is now described as having a 4,500mAh battery with “fast charging” (a spec that often translates to 25W in Samsung). The phone may have a rear panel made of “soft touch” plastic, yet UnknownWon also observed that the 6GB RAM device felt lighter, yet more premium, than a POCO X3.
